Bendigo’s biggest road maintenance project this season is complete as part of a massive road maintenance blitz currently underway by the Andrews Labor Government.
The $2.5 million major project on Hattam and Adam Streets in Golden Square has created a safer and more durable road for the 11,000 locals, and freight drivers accessing the nearby industrial area, every day.
Over six weeks, both lanes on the 1.7-kilometre section underwent a full rebuild to improve the strength and durability of the key road.
The project is part of the Labor Government’s record $333 million maintenance package to rebuild, strengthen or seal major connections across regional Victoria.
Over the coming months, key sections of the Calder Highway, Loddon Valley Highway and Lockwood Road in Kangaroo Flat will be improved to boost safety and durability.
With fewer holiday-makers on the road, this is the most intensive period for maintenance season before winter dampens road building conditions.
There is still more work to be done and road workers will be out in force with changed traffic conditions and construction speed limits in place for the safety of the community and our road workers.
