Bendigo East sporting shooters are celebrating today, after securing funding to upgrade their facilities.
Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan MP today announced Bendigo Field and Game is one of 32 groups across the state to benefit from the latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Shooting Sports Facilities Program.
The club has successfully applied for funding to improve ground access by upgrading existing walking tracks for members and prospective members with disabilities and has been given $59,133 to progress this project.
The program works to improve the integrity and safety of ranges, development of secure storage facilities, upgrades to facilities to increase participation, purchase of shooting sports equipment and environmental protection works.
Since 2014, 236 projects have already benefitted from more than $17.48 million in funding that have gone on to improve the quality and sustainability of shooting sports facilities and activities across the state.
The grants also provide an opportunity for clubs to boost participation, better accommodate people of all abilities and provide real pathways from the grassroots to the elite level.
From Olympic gold medallists Catherine Skinner and Suzanne Balogh to Commonwealth Gold trap shooter Laetisha Scanlan, shooting clubs in Victoria have a strong history of nurturing local talents into world champions. For more information about the program visit sport.vic.gov.au/grants-and-funding
