Government dithers on Hospital Board Chair

Friday, 1 July 2011

The Liberal National Government has failed to appoint a new chair for Bendigo Health, risking further delays on the Labor initiated new Bendigo hospital.

The Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, said that the term of the current chair, Ms Marika McMahon, expired on 30 June and the government was dithering on announcing the new chair.

The Labor initiated new Bendigo Hospital project is at a critical stage. Already the project had been delayed by Liberal National Government dithering. The chair of the board has a critical role to play in driving the project forward."

"The Government have known for some time that they needed to appoint a new chair by 30th June, when Ms McMahon announced her intention not to seek another term."

"To not have had a new chairperson in place and ready to go from today takes the Liberal National Government's dithering to new heights."

"I understand that the Premier and Cabinet have already ticked off on the appointment so what is the Liberal National Government trying to hide from Bendigo with their dithering over announcing a new chair?"

"If they can not get this right how on earth will the Liberal National Government be able to deliver on the Labor initiated new Bendigo Hospital."
