Bendigo athletes will soon be enjoying modern sports facilities at the La Trobe University Bendigo Athletics Complex (LUBAC) in Flora Hill with the announcement of funding through the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Jacinta Allan, Member for Bendigo East today announced $100,000 funding to upgrade the lighting to training and competition level at the athletics track and infield. The City of Greater Bendigo are contributing $179,600 to the project and Athletics Bendigo are also contributing $35,000 towards the upgrade.

Grassroots sports are the lifeblood of our towns and they deserve modern, accessible and safe facilities.

The Labor Government has already invested $120 million in its Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, which helps clubs rejuvenate tired grounds and ageing clubrooms.

We are working with councils, local clubs and peak organisations to upgrade  grassroots playing and training facilities to keep up with growing participation rates including grants for aquatic centres, minor facilities works and planning grants.
