EXPANDING KINDER PLACES FOR BENDIGO FAMILIES

The Andrews LaborGovernment is helping families in Bendigo access bigger, better kindergartenservices.

Member for Bendigo EastJacinta Allan today cut the ribbon on the new Strathfieldsaye Community Hub,which merges the existing Strathfieldsaye Kindergarten with the StrathfieldsayeSports Centre under one roof.

The new $3.9 millionfacility unites users of both services with a connected entrance, informationand signage, shared 3-year-old kinder and play spaces as well as rooms forkindergarten programs.

Staff and families attending the early learningcentre will have the opportunity to establish partnerships through shared spacewithin the broader facility, including community access to a broader range ofprograms, meeting and consultation rooms and recreational activities.

 

Families will also have access to Maternal& Child Health services and other professional early years services likeallied health, early intervention and family health in a holistic familyfocused model.

 

The new kinder has capacity for an extra 168places, including 102 new 4-year-old and 66 new 3-year-old spots.

 

The Government provided$650,000 and the City of Greater Bendigo $3.17 million for the project, withthe remainder shared by the service, the Strathfieldsaye Kindergarten ParentCommittee and the Strathfieldsaye & Districts Community Enterprise.

The Labor Government isdelivering a record $123.6 million to build, expand and improve kinders acrossVictoria to ensure local families can continue to access great localkindergartens.

Bendigo families willalso benefit from the Government’s $202.1 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan.

This ground-breakingreform plan recognises the importance of providing families with strong supportin early childhood, so kids are ready for kinder, ready for school and readyfor life.

It means local parentscan access improved parenting support and Maternal and Child Health Services,as well as higher quality and more inclusive kindergartens.
