NEW HELIPAD USED SIX TIMES IN FIRST WEEK: ALLAN

The new helipad at BendigoHospital has been used six times in the first week of operation, Bendigo EastMP Jacinta Allan announced today.

“It’s been a very busy weekfor the new helipad - Ambulance Victoria expects to use the helipad twice aweek, so they’ve seen a lot more activity than they think is normal.”

“While hopefully there willbe less need in the coming weeks, it’s great to know it is there whennecessary”.

The helipad startedoperating last Wednesday morning.

Ms Allan said the hospital’snew helipad was the next big step since establishing an Air Ambulance Base inBendigo in 2001, by the Bracks Government of which she was a part of.

“From 2001 many lives havebeen saved by getting people to hospitals. Often this meant going directly to Melbourne where they could land at ahospital”.

“Now the Air Ambulance hasthe option of going directly to Bendigo Hospital, making treatment evenquicker, saving even more lives”.
