WORK STARTS ON NEW EPSOM SCHOOL

Wednesday, 19 April 2017

A new school for Epsom primary school students is a step closer with work starting on their $5.7 million building project.

Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, today joined parents, students and teachers to turn the first sod to mark the start of construction.

The new state-of-the-art facilities will provide better classrooms for local students so they can get the best out of their education.

The project includes: a new main building that includes classrooms, reception, administration, library, art room, staff facilities, canteen; plus a new multi-purpose hall and new play areas and equipment for students.

Builder Searle Brothers have won the $5.7 million tender and the new school is expected to be completed by the end of 2017 in order for the new school to open at the start of 2018.

The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.

There are now 42 new government schools and hundreds of school upgrades in the construction pipeline following the Labor Government’s record $1.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.

This school building boom will create 4000 construction jobs and ensure all Victorian families have access to a great school no matter where they live.
