NEW HEALTH SERVICE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN BENDIGO

Friday, 7 April 2017

Children and families in Bendigo now have access to the vital care and support they need, with the opening of Kidzspace Community Health today.

Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan today officially opened the new facilities, made possible by $2.6 million from the Victorian Government and $300,000 raised by Bendigo Community Health Services.

Kidzspace will provide coordinated care that means families can access multiple services easily, under one roof – which will assist in earlier diagnosis, and quicker and more efficient treatment.

The centre will focus on early intervention, full family support and the Child Health Invest Program, helping children with complex behaviours, developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder and more.

The community will benefit from strengthened partnerships between services that will now be co-located, including the maternal child health nurse services from the City of Greater Bendigo, the Kangaroo Flat kindergarten, Baptcare, the Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre and the Raphael Centre.

Kidzspace will provide services to families with children who face significant disadvantage and multiple and complex needs, aligning with the Andrews Labor Government’s Roadmap to Reform priorities of improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
