Today Jacinta Allan, Member for Bendigo East and Exemplar Health CEO, Michele Morrison, officially handed over the new Bendigo Hospital building, clearing the way for the planned clinical move on January 24.

“The building works for the new hospital have now been finalised and signed off. Bendigo Health can now take full possession - with their planned move day next Tuesday”, Ms. Allan said.

Exemplar Health designed and built the new hospital on behalf of the State Government.

“They have done a fantastic job, this new hospital sets us up as the health hub of the North, providing world-class health care”, Ms. Allan said.

“In 2006 we promised master-planning for Bendigo Health. A lot of hard work has gone in over the years, so today is a proud day for the State Government and for Bendigo.  I have just loved pushing, securing and promoting a new hospital for Bendigo ever since we started out in 2006”.

“This hospital was our final piece in the puzzle to transform Bendigo into a world class regional city. We did the Calder duplication, the fast rail, and new schools.  We have a wonderful art scene capped off by Ulumbarra.  And now we have a world-class hospital with technology embedded that will enable safe and high quality patient care,” she said.

Bendigo Health Chairman, Bob Cameron said it was an important milestone for Bendigo Health staff and then entire Loddon Mallee community.

“Every time I walk through this magnificent building I feel excited. I am so impressed with the quality of the building and I know our staff are looking forward to providing care in this great facility.

“Receiving the key to the building is a wonderful milestone. I know all our staff are excited about the planned clinical move next Tuesday and they are busily packing and preparing for their new workplace,” Mr Cameron said.
