Presentation of the Robert Burns Essay Award

Friday, 15 February 2013

Jacinta Allan was very pleased to present Rochester Secondary College students, Ebony Hooper and Meagan Baker, with awards from the Robert Burns World Federation after they entered an international schools competition to write an essay on the line "Man's inhumanity to man, Makes countless thousands mourne" from the Burn's poem, Man was Made to Mourn.

Ebony and Meagan wrote excellent essays that highlighted that Burns' poetry is still relevant in the present day.

The competition was promoted in local schools by the Bendigo & District Caledonian Society & Burns Club.

President of the Club, Jim Miller, joined Jacinta in congratulating Ebony and Meagan on their successful essays.

The presentation was made at the Bendigo Art Gallery in front of the Robert Burns bust. See photos of this presentation.
